Mary Webster--Aesthetic Stock #3 PAIR OF SPONGE-DECORATED FRAMES
Circa 1880

  • I've gotten fond of the Late Victorian penchant for using red highlights in picture frames. They add a contemporary touch and make for a nice wall-grouping for prints or photographs. In this pair of Aesthetic frames, the red accents delineate the edges of the squared profile. The face and sides of the molding are decorated with a green sponged design.
