EBONIZED AESTHETIC FRAME WITH OVAL MAT
Circa 1875

Great combination of ebonized and incised mat and frame. The frame features a highly decorated flat panel with sloping sides. The papier mache mat, dated 1874, has elaborate ornament in the spandrels. Its sloping sight edge is finished in gold leaf.

Sight size of oval mat 7"H x 5"W

Outside dimensions 14 1/2"H x 12 1/2"W

Condition: very good, with minor surface losses. As you can see in the detail photo, there is an area of surface staining
