Mary Webster--Early Photo Frames #3 PAIR OF RENAISSANCE REVIVAL/EASTLAKE FRAMES
Circa 1870

  • Fabulous pair of photo frames from the Mid-Nineteenth Century, complete with early hand-painted mats and photos. The frames are made up of three moldings: the traditional deep walnut outer molding, which surrounds an Eastlake marbleized molding and a gilded stenciled liner forming the sight edge. The paper mats with their oval openings have ribbon decoration.
  • Rabbet size 12"H x 10"W
  • Sight size 11 1/2"H x 9 5/8"W
  • Overall size 17 1/2"H x 15 1/5"W
  • Molding width 3"
  • Depth at outside edge 3 1/2"
  • Condition: very good to excellent with original finishes. Some time in the Mid-20th Century a framer, who stamped his label on the back, took the frames apart and renailed them, why I don't have a clue.
