Mary Webster--Mid-Nineteenth Century Frames Stock #10 RENAISSANCE REVIVAL

Circa 1860

  • One of the best "deep walnut" frames that I have ever run across, stately in its scale and details. The red walnut molding rises in an S-shaped curve to its crest, which is is well-carved in a Gothic tree pattern. But what makes the frame so impressive is the wide gilded liner and the metal "leaves" affixed to its corners. The liner has an intricate profile, with contrasting matte and burnished areas.
  • Rabbet size 10"H x 8"W
  • Sight size 9 1/16"H x 7"W
  • Outside measurements 17"H x 15"W
  • Total molding width 4"
  • Depth at outside edge 3"
  • Condition: very good condition with slight surface wear commensurate with age; very minor surface wear on the liners.
