Mary Webster--Mid-Nineteenth Century Frames Stock #11 RENAISSANCE REVIVAL/EASTLAKE
Circa 1870

  • Extraordinary period frame. The molding is composed of two parts. The outer molding has a finely executed burl walnut veneer graining. It angles down to the outside, and is edged with a gilded border. The corners are decorated with an elaborate incised and gilded design. The inner molding has a running corn husk motif along its crest. Applied to the corners are small lead ornaments in the shape of a ribbon and tassel. This frame would make a striking mirror frame in a suitably grand setting.
