Mary Webster--Miniatures Stock #12 PAIR OF EBONIZED FRAMES
Circa 1875

  • The best part of this pair of frames may well be the glass that accompanies them, two of the best I've ever had, thin and wavy, with a greenish tinge. I suspect that the frames are English. They imitate early 19th Century frames with their squared-off profile and partially ribbed face. Mitered corners secured with tiny square nails. The backing boards are made of a thinnish wood that I cannot identify.
